Phantom Drive Review
A software application that enables you to create and mount disc images from your computer's hard drive.
Optical drives and CDs are great for playing music and movies on your personal computer, but they are subject to wear and tear over time. Phantom Drive will let you use virtual disks instead, which don't require a physical disc to read them.
The program lets you record images in a variety of formats, from simple CD-R to advanced Blu-Ray. It also has a built-in virtual diagnostic system, allowing it to recognize problems with your computer's hardware and software.
Phantom Drive has a few limitations, though. It won't create disc images for you, but it will allow you to mount them.
There's also a bit of a learning curve to using the program, as it's only compatible with Windows and uses the same basic interface. Basically, you click on the program's creator button and define which type of media you want to record.
This can be a CD-R, DVD-R, DVD-RAM, or Blu-Ray, and you'll need to specify where the image is going to be recorded. You can also select how large the image is to be and if you want to save it in ISO format.
The result is a smooth, supple ride that eliminates road imperfections and city noises to the point where you don't even notice the car moving. It's a disconnect from the outside world that I haven't experienced in any other car.
